amount of guns and one Cannon that they had burnt up to keep them from falling into our hands as no doubt they were unable to carry them away. You no doubt wonder shy I have quit sending my diary and all I have to say in regard to it is I have been too unwell to write only when I had to and we have been busy for 3 or 4 days in fixing up our pay rolls which I considered of more importance just now than a diary, but I will either bring it or send it soon. I think if you can get them at a reasonable price that is if you have not got them you had better have a few bushels of apples for winter also potatoes if you did not rais them and I do not suppose you did rais enough. I believe all the Liberty boys are well except Wm Minire and he is going about. The officers of the Regiment are thinning out the sickly ones and sending them home as they are poor Stock here. There was 5 discharged from Our Company today. I received Henry Husteds letter day before yesterday, and will answer it at length soon if I do not come home. I had forgotten Frank Doughty when I said the Liberty boys were all well as he is in another Company. He is poking around all the time unable for duty and coughs hard. Beaver is getting fat and is a good soldier and from all outward appearances is perfectly well satisfied. I think your Brother Mark is in the 26th Ind Reg. but I do not Know the name of his Colonel. Sister Cyrena no doubt has more opportunities of writing than I have but I will write her a letter as soon as I can conveniently. You need not send me any more stamps as I can get plenty here now. No more only kiss the Children all for me and remember your - Affectionate Husband A. F. Davis I will write again in 3 or 4 days
