see if I cannot do something for him.  He is able to be walking about all the time but does not gain any at all.  I found that our Regiment had all got new tents when I got here. They have what is called the Sibley tent which is a great improvement as the boys can Keep fire inside of them and do their cooking and Keep warm at the same time.  They are made perfectly round with a hole in the centre at the top for a chimney and each tent will hold 10 or 15 men verry comfortable.  The officers have the same Kind as before with the addition of an extra cover for the top. They have Small Sheet Iron Stoves for them which makes them verry warm  The Stoves cost from $2,50 to $8 00.  The latter is a cooking Stove with all the impliments necessary for cooking.  I am going to get one tomorrow but will have to do with the 2,50 for the present as funds are too short with me at present for any thing more costly. I hired a cook at Oxford as I come.  He is verry much such a fellow as Charley Sawyer and quite intelligent and a firstrate Cook.  Our Regiment is to get new guns tomorrow but I do not know what Kind. The talk is that that we will leave here in a day or two.  Maybe towards Bowling Green and maybe towards Paduca.  It is now 10 Oclock and I have no fire consequently I am getting cold and it is time lights ware out.  I found quite a Snow when I came here but yesterday and today has been verry nice. Write immediately as it seems like a month since I saw you.  Direct to Louisvill Ky.  Want of room precludes me from writing more at present. Kiss the children for me. your Affectionate husband
