You no doubt know more about it than I do as you can get the particulars in the papers and we have had no papers since that time. The Battle took place about one mile to the left of the village of Perryville and we passed the town 1½ miles and encamped and the next day advanced 5 or 6 miles in the direction of Harrodsburgh and Danville rather between the two places. In the evening our advance had a skirmish with the Rebs. The next morning a Squadron of Rebel Cavalry made a bold dash upon our pickets and drove them to within ½ mile of Camp but did not make much in the undertaking as they left 4 men and 7 horses dead besides Several wounded who they got away with. They did not Scratch one of our men but managed to get one prisoner. We lay there all day and next moring made towards Harrodsburg and shelled them out of there and took 1400 prisoners 500 of whom ware wounded at Perrysville the remainder convalescents and Straglers. The next morning we Started for Danville but when we got there found the Rebs gone. Staid until 2 Oclock in the moring and then Started for Stanford and arrived near there about 9 A.M. and sent forward Skirmishers and commenced Shelling them and the retalliated by trying to Shell us but Soon Skedadled leaveing Lieut Col Griggsby of the 2nd Georgia Regt dead. We had one man slightly wounded. We lay there all night and in the morning Started on and in afternoon commenced Shelling them again and Succeeded in killing several of them and captured 3 pieces of Mountain Houtzers or Jack Ass batteries as the boys call them, as they are
