Company "F" as their officers are all away. Their Capt was taken prisoner at Munfordville. 1st Lieut is home on recruiting Service and 2n Lieut is on detched Service with the Signal Corps, therefore I am put with the Company but hope to be relieved soon for I think the Capt will be back soon The weather has been quite favorable for some days with the exception of a heavy thunder Storm on Sunday night and now it is misting rain and trying to Snow a little. The Officers baggage of Our Regt is Still at Louisville and we do not Know how soon we will get it if ever I wrote to you a day or two since that we ware expecting a box from Liberty Soon. It has not come yet but will no doubt be here in a day or two at furthest. I also wrote for you to send me a Barrell of Apples.. if you send them do it soon so they will get here for now it is raining quite hard and we may not be here more than one or two weeks longer. I would like to have 1/2 doz good one tonight. I think I could enjoy them hugely. They only cost 10 cts each here. Cheap is it not. When we get any Butter we have to pay 75 cts per lb now. Tell the children I will look for another letter from them soon. Tell Sams wife (I dont Know her name) that brother Dick passed quite a compliment on her to me in his last letter but I wont tell what it was for fear she would think it was only flattery. I can think of nothing els wise or foolish with which to fill up this Sheet therefore I will close by Sending as usual my respects to all and my love to you and the children Your Affectionate Husband A.
