I See the Herald of the 3rd inst publishes me as Capt. of the Co. A Slight Mistake The City of Nashville is now full to overflowing with Sick and convalescent Soldiers. So much so that they are Sending them Gallatin and other points. Our old Friend and fellowtownsman, Dr L. D. Sheets has charge of one of the Hospitals in Nashville, but I have not saw him yet. Yesterday I received Orrillas letter of the 29th ult and today Permelias of the 3rd inst, and oh the anguish it gives me to hear of your suffering and to think and Know that I am unable to be with you or even to visit you and cumfort and Sympathise with you in your Sore afflictions. Orrilla and Permelia both insisted on me comeing home and seeing you and would to God I could do so but at present I can see nor hear of no chance whatever but am watching and have friends watching for me the first opening so that I can come. I asked some of the higher Officers today if they would approve my application for a resignation and they told me they would not for I was too faithful and hearty an Officer to get out at this time but that they would help me to get a leave of absence the first oportunity. I a man wants to get out of this by resignation
