Some reports are that he is being reinforced while others are that he is withdrawing and Sending forces to help operate against Grant, but which of the rumors are true (if either) I cannot say. The mounted Infantry of our Army are constantly on the move and fighting more or less evry few days. Quite a number of our Infantry moved forward a Short distance a few days since but whether they are the advance of a forward movement or just a reconnoisance I do not Know. This Division had the pleasure yesterday of welcomeing their Old Commander, Gen. Wood back again and I must say the boys ware proud to see him. After returing from his leave of absence he was put in command of the Post at Nashville and then he wanted to take his old Division there with him but he could not get that privalige so he come here and took command of them. Gen Braman who commanded in his absence appeared to be a good man and one that understood his buisness but there was too much of the Potomic Style about him which did not suit the boys as they have not much confidence in anything that is from the Potomic. But now Old Tom (as the boys call him) is back again, they are all right. The weather is warm and pleasant, and we have to drill from 4 Oclock until night evry day except Saturday and Sundays So you See we are not having a very hard time We also have plenty to eat, all Kinds of Army rations. There is one thing I think we have about four fold rations and that is flies. I never Saw them in such numbers anywhere as we have them here as we are in a perfect Swarm of them all the time and in the evening the top of my tent is perfectly black with them. Then they are in evrything on evrythin and around evrything
