Springtown Ind October 7/51 Dear Bro, Sister and family We embrace this opportunity to address a few lines to you to let you know something of the dealings of God toward us. But O where shall we begin Our hearts are sad when we reflect on the past. But a few short months ago, our family Circle was Complete. We could all surround the domestic hearth, the social altar, the table witnessed all, all able to partake of the blessings of Heaven, and our smiling, pratling, infant, our beloved Eliza Jane, and much revered and loved Mother, were all with us. But now we enquire in vain for those loved forms, they are gone, from us, to their Fathers house above. Our beloved babe on Monday evining was all life, and joyously, delighted us with its sports, and innocent pratlings; and the following thursday it was taken from us, and transformed into an angel of light. Our beloved Mother was next taken, she lay about 10 days Her sufferings were great. The disease appeared to be spread through her system, the skin Came off of One of her arms and partly off her face, and some other blisters, but her end was peace, and amidst all her sufferings, the Lord sustained her, and she was enabled to triumph in death and now no doubt rests in the Paridise of God. Eliza Jane, lay about 8 weeks, she suffered a great deal The last 4 weeks her lungs were much affected, the disease appeared to settle on her lungs, and sometimes we hoped that she might recover, but vain delusive hope. She bore her affliction with perfect resignation, nothing but the Grace of God Could have enabled her, to bear the extreme suffering and pain, that she was Called to bear. A more perfect resignation to the will of God we never saw; and our beloved Ely Jane now rests in Abrahams bosom.
