Camp Near Helena Ark December. 30th 1862 Dear Parrents, I received your kind and interesting letter yesterday it gave me much pleasure to hear you wer both well and enjoying your selves. I hope you may live to see this bludy war settled and that we may all return home and live in peace you said you thought William was getting discoureged I think he has been it is enough to discourage any person the way this war has been carried on I am a fraid our Company is getting in rather a bad situation our Captain talks of resigning I like him very well if he would not get drunk Father did you ever think he would
