I here a Repor a few minutes ago that Gen Grant had the Rebels all corelled & the were crouded allmost in the River & the citizens are Beging Grant to stop firing the offered Grant that if he would let them go with one Bregaid But Grant Replied to them that he would not let a man go so the are in a tight place sure I like to here of their Being hemmed up I do think that the whole army of Vicksburg will Be prisoners soon their will Be sent up the River Every day General Grant is a man after my on heart he Believes in making a clean sweep of Rebels as he goes & so do I I often am on Picket with a squad of men & I tell them to take all the Rebels that comes just like I cach squirrels I tell them to halt them & shoot with a good aim at the same time as luck will have it I never have had the priveleg of taking any Reble yet while on post on day I took a soldier a prisoner that belonged to a mo. Regt he had got out side of the Picket line I saw him & called him to a halt & [marted?] him in marched him along the Picket line till I found the officer of the gard there he was releaced By giving Evidence to the fact that he was a soldier If he had had Butter nut clothes on he never would of got insid of the lines at all while on Picket corporals never gets to sleep at all during the Knight I will tell you that Lieutenant Michel is one of the Best officers in our Regt since he is liked By all that know him
