THURSDAY, MAY 12, 1864. The sick we tumbled out of the Ambulances and I among the Rest, in quite an unhealthy place. yet we managed to have ourselves made comfortable by the assistance of Old Sol who for the last day had refused to lend his aid. Our boys started out to open the Ball or ask the Rebs to give them undisputed possession of the R.R. think the latter was refused as the Ball commenCenced soon after their arrival at the front this morn and Infantry and artillery has kept it up all day although can hear nothing but the artillery. The 10th O.V.C. had one (1) man Killed. (1) Mortally wounded and some three or four slightly wounded - we drove the Rebs through a thick underwood for two (2) miles when they out-flanked our skirmishers and came near capturing the led horses of one Plattoon when no. 4 who held them let them go and took Care of No. 1 most of horses were recovered all returned to camp at night having been out to keep them stirred up - Am better able to visit the boys in camp.
