THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 1864. Went into Camp this day and our Boys commenced having their quarters well fixed for the occasion - officer of day - Order to be ready to move at dusk I Received Some clothing - Men lost their hats in Raid Men Men feel unwell Eating fill (Vertically, over entry:-) After dark moved about four miles to the front toward Fairburn Station from Sandtown and Encamped in the woods Cos "A" & I compose my squadron Return to Rest at midnight &c &c FRIDAY 26 Feed on green corn early and then move back to Sandtown encamped at old camp. after night received orders to be ready to move at midnight - did so and encamped about five miles out toward Fairburn Station. Slept in line of Battle. very tired and Horse used up. SATURDAY 27 Moved out early toward Fairburn and stood in line near church all day, Occasionally a shot was fired at us, and encamped about two (2) miles from Railroad. plenty to eat of Green Corn for Horses and men Had Coffee Sugar Hard Bread. Corn and Sweet Potatoes and Meat of varous kinds.
