However I do not expect to stay here until spring perhaps not 10 days I dont wish to go quite that soon. If I could go home a while I should not care how soon then though I really am afraid I shall not stand it well We expect to be payed off in a week or 10 days & then a squad will be sent down the River. The Sergeant of the Guard, for whome I am clerking has been verry sick for a week with soar throat, fever, Conjestive Chills &c so I have a good deal more to do than I had. He was telling a young person who was in. but the day that he took the soar throat, that this one & that one had had it & how I had it & he expected he would have it next & he hoped to God it would kill him if he did.. shure enough he got it & he has not got well of it yet nor is his throat any better. I wish he might learn a lesson by his experience & improve by it. He is having a pretty severe time. I hope he will be better soon. There are a great many complaining of colds. Aside from colds I guess the health is pretty good here
