Received marching orders - leave camp near Richmond La at nine oclock A M marched 8 miles and camped for night SUNDAY 26 Took up our march at 7 oclock and marched to Smith's Plantation & stoped for dinner Also for the night MONDAY 27 Camped 3 miles from Carthage on the Bayou 3 miles from the River 15 or 20 miles below Vicksburg
