The rebels send out a flag of truce wrote a letter to Mary Ann Kuhn Received a letter from W P Simonds dated June 25th SATURDAY 4 Vicksburg surrendered to Gen Grant at 10-O clock to day The 17th Iowa marches into Town and again returned to Camp - weather intensely warm SUNDAY 5 Still in camp out side the rebel works wrote a letter to W P Simonds - and one home - Changed camps
