TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1863. Left camp at 12 oclock last night and crosst the river about 4 miles above Chattanooga and lay in line of battle = crossed on small Boats = a battle expected to day heavy fighting to our right WEDNESDAY 25 Rested during the night in the woods near the rebel lines - heard fighting to day. Our Regt engaged . Geo Martin and Barty Shearer killed and myself slightly wounded I remain in Hospital to night THURSDAY 26 Rebels retreated last night We persue them to day harassing their rear - Capturing some prisoners Camped 8 or 10 miles from Chattanooga
