July all thair men but 3, the rest was killed and captured Our Regt. lost heavely our Co had but 1 man killed and 1 captured we then fell back and joine Beauford and laid that night within 5 miles of Hagerstown Tues 7 went to Boonsborough and the rebs advanced on us and after A heavy fight we drove them back Weds 8 the rebs advanced on us again and after very heard fighting and canonading we dro them back and took a piec of artilery
