July Thurs 9 we laid at boonsborough and the weather was fine Fry 10 we left about 4 Oclock and went within 4 miles of Hagerstown and encamped Sat 11 still laying within 4 miles of Hagerstown and within 1 mile of the rebel pickets Sun 12th we dashed into hagerstown and took it with but small fighting Mon 13 we had heavy skirmishing all day Tues 14th went out through Williamsport to Falling waters
