July 15th. Wind about SSW Fog & rain Fog whistle sounding every 2 mins at noon Lat de 49.54 N. Long de 38.35 W. course S.73[degrees]W. distance run 240 miles (these measurements are from noon yesterday till noon to-day). cleared up in the afternoon. evening fine July 16th. Wind N to W. bright & cold- icebergs- thermometer falls 3 [degrees] while passing one of them. lat de 48 [degrees].44N Long de 44 [degrees].35 W course S.73 1/2 W. distance run 246 ms. Cape Race S. 70 [degrees], W. 366 ms. I find we have also a captain of a ship burnt by the "Alabama" on board also some of the crew of the "Georgia"
