July 18th Lat de 45[degrees] 32 N Long de 55[degrees] 51 W. distance run 267 ms. course 5.68.W. In the evening we saw whale spouts on the horizon. July 19th Bright & clear. land in sight at 1.18 P.M. lead 44 fathoms. Lat de 44.51 Long de 61.43 course S 80 1/2 W. distance run 252 miles Halifax 86 miles - arrived at Halifax at 10 P.M. left at 2. The houses here are all built of wood except a very few which are built of stone. July 20th clear in the morning but fog came on after dinner July 21st Fog in the morning it is getting much hotter now,
