are larger than our maple leaves they pierce the tree for sugar. There are generally only two ry. trains in a day run here. they check luggage through, the cars are often detached when the train is going full speed, the greater part of our journey to-day there was only a single line, we went very smoothly July 26th from [Serter?] House to Keirsage House N. Conway by stage, the jolting on these stages is fearful, the bridges are formed of mere boards of wood loosely laid on two cross beams, several of these look rotten & there are often wholes in them, some of them are not boards but only small unbarked trees, the horses are good & sure footed they appear
