There are bears at nearly all these mountain houses: also there is a beautiful kind of bird called yellow bird like a canary only having black-tipped wings it looks as it flies about like a tropical bird another curiosity in the living way is the flying grasshopper several of these are to be seen flying about. There was a land slip at Willy House near Crawford H. the House was saved by a rock which divided the falling rocks but the inhabitants hearing the noise rushed out of the house & into the cataract & were burried in its ruins. The Americans call a carriage & horses a team
