the huts on them looked very insignificant, they them selves like floating islands it was also curious to see the small vessels which owing to the mighty stream & the fair wind right aft. of them seemed to be on us the moment we sighted them & ran past like ghosts in the darkness, arrived at Montreal (180 miles) about 5.A.M. on the 7th Went to church at the English Cathedral which is a very handsome building. there is stone in the neighbourhood of Montreal & most of the houses being built of this gives the town a very solid appearance & is a great contrast to Quebec
