26th went over to the Clifton House Canada. There is a much better general view of both falls from this side & a better particular view of the great horse shoe fall, went under the fall without a guide & without paying anything but got wet through. The guide is a humbug & did not go in any farther than we did. The view from the rocks below the Table rock is the finest decidedly I have seen & the sun shining on one side of the horse shoe fall & throwing the other into shade had a very beautiful effect. This evening there was a thunder storm & it was curious to notice the spray attracted up to the clouds before it began raining till all was a haze.
