21st At last the steamer Traveller came up & we embarked about 11 A.M. stopped to wood on the British side at a village where there were a great many Indians & half-breeds they got 1$ each for loading the wood which they set about doing very lazily. They looked a much more respectable set of men, one was really pure copper colour & had a very fine countenance, but they were hanging about the store smoking or staring vacantly I saw a Protestant Chapel here: but I also heard the French language & there was a Roman Catholic Church. stopped about 2 hours. There are two Towns at the Sault St. Mary
