& about once a month when it has enough passengers goes up to Fort William; it is a pity there is not more regular communication by this route to Toronto as that would be the shortest & quickest route to N. Y, I am told the scenery of the Georgian Bay is very fine (I forgot to say that we passed the "pictured rocks" we had gone round the back of Grand Island, where there was a fine roadstead, to get wood which we did not find there, these appear to be sandstone rocks & have curious red & green & yellow colouring. there are also some large caves which would be worth exploring.
