and the latest that I have had from You was from Keokuk dated Dec 30" I am sure there must be a fine lot of letters & papers on the road for me. I was in hope we would remain here until I could hear from Major J.B. and the Col at Cairo but we must go. I hope when we stop again there will be a Commish wating for me. I do not Know our destination but presume we will pull up near Charleston, we are to have Communication with "Hellen Head" I must Stop as the last mail goes out at Tattoo and the drums are now beating. tommorrow morning at 7 we will be on the road. the weather is quite cool for this country Remember me to all much love to your Mother & Mary.
