which is the first time since leaving Savannah, It was with many regrets that I learned of Jimes Departure for the South, do not think you need hope for him to Join Shermans Army I fear he will be sent west of the Miss River again, you will pleas give me all the news that you get from him when you write I have not yet heard from Col" Mayer, and now that Jim has gon I fear the thing will fall through. I would like the place & wrote to Col Mayer as directed accepting it, but it has been so long that I fear the place is filled. I would like a commission of some Kinde I have now served almost one & a half years as a private and all the time done the work of a Commissioned Officer. I must now Close pleas Excuse bad writing & all mistakes I think we will be Paid off before leaving here if we are I will send you the money the first Chance for I expect you need it, Remember me to all my friends give my love to Mother & Mary. write often & Believe me Ever Your Affectionate Husband Frank.
