am in hopes we will not move far enough into the interior to Close our Communication for I am very anxious to hear from Col" Mayer. had hoped that I would hear from him befor[e] moving from this place. We are all feeling good over the news from Richmond. I bought a New York Herald this morning of the 5" of April which give all the particu[lars] up to that date. which I suppose is all the news we will get until the Close of the Campaign. The health of the Regimet is good & the men are all wel[l] Clothed all think that the war will be ended and think they will get Home by next fall. You spoke in one of your former letters about my old Gree[n] shirt, I had to Laugh Sure Enough! the Idia of a man carrying a shirt on these such Campaigns as we hav[e] had. but then you are not a Soldier, I abandoned that Sh[irt] at Kennessaw Mountain Last June did not Know you wanted it or would have sent it home. we expected to Receive our pay before leaving here & had the Pay Rolls all made out but now we will not get it until we stop again, the Recent Victories at Richmond is starting this Army and much sooner than was expected. Monday morning 9 A.M. April 10" 65 dear Lide we move in one hour it is Raining this morning & bids fair to be a bad day I feel better this morning than I have for two week[s] Love to all Pleas write Evry week to your Ever Affectionate Husband Frank Malcom
