and if you can now get more than that for it you had better let it go. I think with the money that we can get for the house and what I will have next Pay day that we will be able to "pay off" the Stevenson Mortgage the debt to your Fathers Estate & what I am owing Jim. this will leave me without one dollar of my own & no home; but I will feel much better after paying my honest debts for it is Just what I have been trying to do since I failed in business. It makes me almst sick when I think over the past & finde my self now a middle aged man without one dollar of my own to support "my good wife on" but I hope my dear that you will love me none the less for trying to be honest though it makes me poor. I must now Close pleas Remember me to all & write often. this is Sunday & a beautiful day I bought a Late New York Herald this morning with the particulars of the assassination of President Lincoln, I expect to put in the Rest of the day reading it. you must excuse my bad writing this morning as I have a very poor steel pen. Hoping that I will be with you in a very short time I Remain as ever your Affectnte Husband Frank Malcom
