H'd.. Qrs 7th.. Iowa V. V. Inft Casmp near Washington D.C. May 25" 65 My dear Wife I have Just received your Kinde and welcom letter of the 19th.. was glad to hear from you once more & to Know that you was well. - yours of the 23d.. of April was all that I had recd.. from you since leaving Raleigh N.C. Hope now I will be able to hear from you regular. I wrote you on the 21st.. inst when in Camp near Alexandia Va. Informing you of our arrival there, presume you have seen accounts of the Grand Review in Washington on the 23 & 24 insts," that will give you a much better idea of the performance than I can give you this evening. have not seen any of the papers my self but understand they all publish very flattering accounts of it. do Hope they will give Shermans Army their Just. dues,
