Three miles North West of the City we will have when fixed up a very nice place. Genl. Jones & John. H. Winterbotham called on us today they came to Washington to see the review. Mr Winterbotham promised me he would call on you and give you all the particulars which he will do much better than I can write them I was pleased to see them for I assure you it does me good to see any one from Home. You speak of my getting Home soon I fear. my dear you will be disappointed the prospect is not as good now for me as it was two weeks ago. The sixty-two Recruits & one year men whose term of Service Expires Prior to the 30" of Sept next will be mustered out immediately, that will take sixty three (63) men from the 7" Iowa amongst them Dennis. A. Morrison & Geo Smith of Co.. "D" There is nothing said in the order about the Veterans & sixty four Recruits but it is believed by all that the Veteran Organization will be Kept in the Service until a regular army is organized and in that case the sixty four Recuits will be Held. - their Enlistmnt being the Same date of the Veteran Organization, it seems Hard that Substitutes who Received from Eight to fifteen Hundred dollars Bonus for one year should be Discharged before their time Expires & others who Have Served four years Retained. But we must submit to such things I Hope,
