Transfered from the boat that I was on to the one occupied by the Troops, found my experiance in shipping Quite an Advantage to me. we have a new Quartermaster and he is but little better than a wooden man. I got the baggage through all Safe did not Loose anything, which is unusual in transporting So Large an Amount of property, the trip was a Very Hard one was three days & nights on the top of Box Cars. with but little to Eat. & verry little Sleep. I would tie a rope round my boddy & fasten it to the Car and then try to Sleep. done this to Keep from falling off. while asleep. Many of the troops did fall off. & some of them were badly hurt. I hope now that our moving is. almost at. an end. think our next move will be for Home. some think the Veterans will be retained but I cannot see what use "Uncle Sam" will have for them we are to be paid off. next week.
