Camp Near Louisville Ky.
June 14th.. 1865
My dear Wife
I Received your Kinde favor of the 5th.. inst yesterday it found me enjoying my usual good health
I was sorry to hear of John Lockwoods death but had been Expecting it for Sometime
presume you have recieved my letter of the 9th.. from this place by this time Since then I have been very bussy, the duties in the Quartermasters Department were all new to me consequintly the first fiew weeks I had to work much harder than I will have to in the future Think I will like this Department much better than I did the Adjutants Office.
I am glad Mary is going home with Mrs "D" hope She will have a pleasant visit, you mention in one of your former letters that your Mother is going to visit at lake City this Summer and that you would like to visit your friends in Menomonie I will Send you Some money in a fiew days and if you think we can afford,
