Q. M. Office 7" Iowa V.V.I Camp Near Louisville K.Y. June 21st.. 1865. My dear Wife Enclosed you will finde a Draft.on New York for one hundred and Thirty dollars. I Send it to you in this Shape believing it to be the Safest. any of the merchants will Cash it for you at its face all you have to do is to Endorse it, with your name on the back of the Check the Same as it is written on the face of it. I was Paid on the 18th.. but Could not get to town to get the Check until yesterday. I Received one hundred and Sixty Six dollars. it being in full for Eight months pay and one Enstallmnt of Bounty. I have now "due me" one months pay as Private & one as q.m Sergt also one Enstallmnt of Govermnt bounty.
