Sweet Milk Cake One cupful of sugar & 1/2 c. butter beaten to a cream; add 1 c. sweet milk, 2 1/2 c. flour, 1 c. raisins, 1 tsp. cream of tartar, & 1/2 tsp. of soda, both sifted with the flour, 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon & cloves. Pour in a baking tin & bake in a moderate oven. Doughnuts. 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 c. sour cream 1 1/2 c. sweet milk 2 tbsp melted butter 1/2 tsp. soda 1 1/2 tsp baking powder add flour until dough can be easily handled, cut & fry in smoking hot fat, drain on paper & sugar when cold Lemon Pie. Mix once cupful of sugar with 2 tbsps of cornstarch, cook in a double boiler with one cupful of hot water until transparent; then add two tbsps of melted butter, beat & just before removing from the fire, add the grated rind & juice of one lemon. This may be used for a cake filling. When used for pie, bake between two crusts.
