Several loud explosions heard down the river said to be at Cheraw 5 mls down the river. The Great Pedee is 3/4 mile wide here and difficult to bridge Several prisoners have been taken by our Brigade during the last week. Quite a number of our men are captured daily while foraging. 6th The Pontooners are too slow entirely, however we obtain a good rest while waiting on them It required all the boats besides several wagon beds and a string of tressel-work to reach the other side of the river.
