8" Got out early, our B in rear of Div and scattered along the train to help wagons. Marched over a poor country, all forest, a tar region, and made 24 m coming on the Fayetteville road at 3 P.M. Rain all day. This was a long drive for us and we were until 10 at night getting in camp We saw only a half dozzen houses and they were tar burners. The 20 Corps train ran along side of us for several miles but branched off again to the right. The foragers ahead have quite a lively time with the Johnnies.
