heard by these old hills, "Glory to God" says Sherman. "and now will push Johnston" 13" Last night Gov Vance and others came down on a train and surrendered Raleigh to Sherman, At daylight we started out for R, the first Div ahead, we marched briskly till noon when we entered R_ passed through and camped near the Lunate Asyhum. The 20 corps and we had a race, but we beat them this time, Our 1" D garrison the place. Gen'l "Kill" entered town at 7 A.M our 1st D, at 9 AM
