6 started out early [on Bri?] in [bod?] of Div passed through a beautiful country and camped 6 miles north of the Appomattox River having marched 25 miles. The men suffer terribly and all for nought. Curse these men who would cause us to suffer so unnecessarily. The 1" Div is 20 miles ahead and 2" Div men 10 in rear. We have cut the 20' corps off and will beat them to R_ easily Gen Slocum told Davis today that he should not march his men so fast.
