14" [Risocca?] a year ago to-day. Went out in advance of Brigade and made a brisk march of 15 miles going westward with the intention of striking the __ road and on it to Washington Went near but missed the Wilderness battlefield 15" Our westward movent is spoiled at 8 AM for we then bore Nor east after striking a main road and crossed the Rapidan at Raccoon ford at noon We waded and went into camp 4 miles beyond making 20 miles, On the river we found heavy old works occupied by rebels in 1863.
