Dec. 25th 1872 H.C. [Lemarr?] Esq Dear Sir My telegrams from Doctor Durrant late yesterday afternoon were to the effect that unless there was a certainty of having 500 of the [Berrds?] ready to send tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon and a fair prospect that the whole issue would be signed in two weeks it would be but to get resignation from Mr. Davison. Now he is really not yet able to do any amount of work and although slowly improving job it is not near as rapid an improvement as I honestly thought on Monday morning [he?] might [lerk?] for, and I do not dare to take the responsibility of [assuming?] that the [Boards?] will be ready in
