Salem Iowa 5 May 1870 Esteemed Friend Joseph A. Dugdale This will inform thee that we are in common health Except myself I am about a little so weak and nervous that I cannot write to do any good I spoke to [illegible] and wife they are not in favor of womans rights my wife and I are in favor of sutch a convention and are willing our names should be used in any way tha will rightly promote the cause I have spoke to number of friends of your proposed visit I think it will be agreable to all in mutch love to thee and all dear to thee in which my wife joins farewell Ellwood A.
