Anchovy Sandwiches Cut thin rounds brown Bread which cover with Butter, Anchovy, a little Cayenne & thin Slices hard-boiled Egg, small salad, or Mustard & Cress. Dish up on Lettuce cut into shreds (spiers) Canopy - (Mrs [Cordrey?]) Cut some Chicken, Ham (or Tongue) Egg & Sardines into small shreds. Mix some Butter & Mustard & spread on pieces of Bread cut into the Shape of Cutlets. Put a Lettuce Leaf top & bottom & leave on the Ice for a night between a Weight. Spread the Mince on other Pieces Bread & serve as Sandwiches for a [Blender?], or for Luncheon. Scones (Cricket) 1/2 lb flour. 1 teaspoonful Sugar, a pinch of Soda ditto of Salt, 1 teaspoonful Buttermilk (or Milk). Mix up well & roll out 2 inches thick, cut into Cakes & bake in rather a Cool Oven for [10?] Minutes.
