Rippey, Greene Co. Iowa Dec.r 21st/69 Dear Sister Ellen. Relative to this bit of confidence The knowledge of those things heretofore refered to came to me through about the third person, and with it came the news of a letter having been received by the confident from the confidante. Is this matter worthy of attention? The person that figures so conspicuous a part in this little drama - was but once in our humble dwelling - five minutes - surely not more than ten, when spent in company with children & my self - when to my surprise nothing was to be seen of our visitant but the receding object bestriding the well known quadruped sailing through the breeze to a somewhat Southern place - know Miss Ellen this is rather a complicated
