Rippey, Iowa Aug 31st 1905 Dear Sister Ellen. A letter to you this morning - It is now 30 minutes past 7 o'clk. and it is my birthday too of course you know how old I am today in years. I am thankful to the giver of all good for the blessings of life & health I enjoy. Ellen and Kate will take up their school work next Monday. They both will teach in Dallas Co. Maud sends us loving letters of her husband, herself and son John. Their son is now about ten weeks old We had no harvest this year- no threshing of grain. Have our land largely in grass, cattle and corn. Our young chickens are growing large. We did not start out to raise very many young chicks - as for butter making we just milk enough to use in family
