Albany May 19th 1856 T.C. Durant Esqr Sir Your telegraph saying come down & go to Washington was received at 4 oclock P.M. If it is necessary for me to go or if I can do any good there or in N York I will come down, but I think unless I can, it is necessary for me to remain here a few days both on account of business & my family. Thomas has had guts & sick turn for two days but think him better this afternoon, Telegraph me in the morning if it is really necessary for me to be in N.Y or Washington & I will go but I cannot see any earthly use of it Yours &c C.W. Durant
