Iowa City, Iowa. October 6th 65 Dear Sister: I have a few leisure moments at present and I will improve them by penning you a few impromtu lines. My health is at present very good considering all things. I must guard my appetite very closely, else I would be eating all the time. My studies occupy all my time except Sunday, Ellen, it would do you good to see the "starch" taken from the students who comes here knowing more than they really do. It is sufficient to make the school mams homesick in a week. I often hear an the expression "She is homesick". The teachers show no mercy towards the pupils who do not have their lessons well studied for recitation.
