If I only could get all my building material together I should make my saw & hammer ring for a while. I am getting more than anxious to use my carpenters tools on a House for you & I to occupy. I have sent for the remainder of my lumber. I fear the roads will be impassable again by the time it arrives. I do hope not. This Snow has made them rather bad, again. I presume you seen some snow in the Grove too, did'nt you? And not just so very long ago not any longer than this morning quite a big Snow for to fall on the 11th day of May (1878) was it not? Also them hard frosts, I think has killed all the fruit. I see our currants are [?], I think there has not been more promising time in Iowa for fruit than this Year, now I think it is all frozen. We must be content for it was so ordered by a higher power,
