At Home this Stormy evening Nov, 4th 1877 My only Dearest Ellie. How disappointed and lonely I do feel this evening, not bring (seemingly) resolute enough to venture out into this storm to see and have a pleasant chat with the one I love so dearly, and that one is none other than You Ellie. I was almost on the starting point of going, when it commenced sno- ing pretty briskly. I kept up a pretty lively thinking for some time. At last I concluded not to go, unless it should stop Snowing soon. And also I feared perhaps You might think I was a foolish Youth to start out & not thank me for coming.
