So many have come here because they lost their property east. And those that have been here for a few years have saved themselves considerable and will in a few years be pleased in affluent circumstances. Few of the land lords here tell the story that three years ago he landed here with only fifteen dollars in his pocket and now he is half partner in a hotel now under construction here that will cost upward of $15,000 made [illegible] keeping hotel in Russell so you may depend the hotel keepers do a stunning [illegible]. By the way there is not a Saloon in town nor are there Druggists allowed to sell intoxicating drinks in any manner. Now Mother I am somewhat anxious to hear from home. The last ones I had was from Ellen and Nathan forwarded from Abilene. The P.M at Abilene forwards all my mail so if there is any sent there I will get it in [illegible] season. The goods came through all right except the organ the lid and some the back was jamed loose but the musical par is not hurt in the least. A cabinet maker can soon fix it up again. When I write again think will be able to tell you that we are housekeeping by ourselves. My love to [Ivan?] and Ellen From Your Affectionate Son Milton
